Our client is seeking a Director – Legal Affairs to oversee all legal and disciplinary activities within the organization. This strategic leadership role combines team management, legal oversight, representation on various committees, and advisory responsibilities to both senior leadership and members.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and proper management of disciplinary, regulatory, and penal matters while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all activities related to the Legal Affairs department
• Lead and manage a team composed of lawyers, investigators, legal assistants, and administrative staff
• Supervise, prioritize, and monitor legal, disciplinary, and regulatory files
• Provide legal opinions and strategic recommendations to leadership
• Participate in the analysis and handling of complaints and sensitive matters
• Oversee the drafting and revision of legal documents and communications
• Act as lead or coordinator for various disciplinary and regulatory committees
• Represent the organization and participate in strategic committees and external meetings
• Support members by answering legal and regulatory questions
• Prepare recommendations and present matters to executive leadership and the board of directors
• Ensure sound management of departmental operations, budgets, and priorities
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal procedures

Profile Sought

• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar
• Significant experience managing teams within a legal environment
• Strong understanding of civil law, construction law, and/or regulatory penal law
• Excellent judgment and strong analytical skills
• Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to manage sensitive situations diplomatically
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to operate effectively in an environment involving human, political, and regulatory considerations
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and rigor
