On behalf of our client — a leading distributor of specialized tools and equipment — we are recruiting a Director, 3PL Operations based in Old Montreal.

A major player at both national and international levels, the company stands out for the quality of its products, the strength of its logistics network, and its operational excellence. Its sustained growth now requires an even more agile, high-performing, and scalable logistics structure.

In this context, the organization is seeking a strategic leader capable of ensuring the alignment, consistency, and performance of all external third-party logistics partners (3PL) across Canada and internationally.

Role Overview

The Director, 3PL Operations holds overall responsibility for the management and performance of the outsourced logistics partner network. This individual acts as the central point of contact between executive leadership, internal teams, and 3PL providers to ensure smooth, compliant, and cost-effective distribution operations.

This role aims to structure a harmonized logistics ecosystem that supports the company’s rapid growth while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define and implement a global 3PL operations strategy aligned with growth objectives
• Optimize the logistics footprint and operational capacity of the distribution network
• Lead the selection, evaluation, and onboarding of new logistics partners

Operations Management

• Oversee the daily performance of 3PL sites across Canada and internationally
• Establish consistent KPIs and standardized operational practices
• Conduct regular performance reviews with logistics partners

Financial Performance

• Own the budget accountability for 3PL activities
• Optimize costs, forecasting, and contractual agreements
• Work closely with Finance and Procurement teams

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, customs, and health & safety requirements
• Maintain control mechanisms and business continuity plans
• Partner with Legal and HR to mitigate contractual and organizational risks

Leadership and Collaboration

• Guide regional stakeholders involved in managing 3PL partners
• Foster close collaboration with internal teams (logistics, procurement, customer service, finance, HR)
• Represent the company in strategic discussions with logistics providers

Profile Sought

• Significant experience managing large-scale outsourced logistics networks (3PL)
• Strong understanding of multi-site and international distribution environments
• Excellent analytical, financial, and negotiation skills
• Influential leadership style with the ability to operate cross-functionally
• Solid knowledge of regulatory and international trade logistics requirements
